Toyota launches 'ist' compact car

NAGOYA, Japan - The new ''ist'' compact car, launched by Toyota Motor Corp. on May 8, is a new-genre vehicle targeting young people and offering better driving performance, safety and environmental technologies than conventional compact cars. The ''ist'' has a lightweight body with an engine displacement of 1500 cc or 1300 cc, which is combined with a high-performance super ECT automatic transmission, Toyota said.

Toyota's new car inspired by horse-drawn carriage

NAGOYA, Jan. 17 Kyodo - Toyota Motor Corp. on Jan. 17 introduced its WiLL Vi passenger car, which has body styling reminiscent of horse-drawn carriages of yesteryear. The standard, two-wheel-drive model with an engine displacement of 1300 cc is priced at 1.3 million yen, Toyota said. The car's body incorporates grooved panels and a sharply angled rear window, which Toyota says evoke the image of a horse-drawn carriage.
